In 2010, Benro started to modify the naming system of their mainstream tripods, so as to make the model numbers of their tripods be more systematic and meaningful.
The aim of this article is to elaborate the naming system digit by digit, so you could get deeper understanding of the features straight from the tripod model numbers.

The new naming system being discussed in the article applies to the following 5 series of Benro tripods so far:
- Travel Angel Series (Reverse folding)
- Flat Folding Series
- Classic Series
- Combination Series (Works without center column)
- Versatile Series (Multi-angles center column)
- 1st digit: Material of Tripod Leg Pipes
- 2nd digit: Max. Leg Pipe Thickness
- 3rd digit: Tripod Design
- 4th digit: Leg Sections
- 5th digit: Extra Function
- 6th digit: Lock Type of Leg Joints
- Last 2 or 3 digits: Model Number of Tripod Head (only applicable if tripod head is included in the package, or what we call "Tripod Kit".)
For tripod legs (i.e. tripod head is not included), the model number is always in 6 digits. For example, A2980T or C3770T.
If
the model number is longer than 6 digits, then it implies that tripod head is included in the package (i.e."Tripod Kit"). For example, C0681TB00 and
A1570FB1.
Let's go deeper, digit by digit.
1st digit - Material of Tripod Leg Pipes
It is either in "C" or "A".
- "C" stands for carbon fiber.
- "A" stands for aluminum alloy.
2nd digit - Max. Leg Pipe Thickness
It ranges from "0" to "4".
- "0": 22mm
- "1": 25mm
- "2": 29mm
- "3": 33mm
- "4": 36mm
3rd digit - Tripod Design
It refers to the design of the tripod. Up to now, the naming system applies to the following 5 tripod series:
- "1": Flat Folding Series
- "5": Classic series
- "6": Travel Angel Series (Reverse folding)
- "7": Combination series (Works without center column)
- "9": Versatile series (Multi-angles center column)

4th digit - Leg Sections
It refers to the number of leg sections of the tripod.
- "7": 3 Sections
- "8": 4 Sections
- "9": 5 Sections

5th digit - Extra Function
It reflects whether there is any extra function of the the tripod, for example monopod conversion or rotatable head base. Until now, it ranges from 0 to 3.
- "0": No extra function
- "1": Convertible to monopod, achieved by "tripod head + one detached leg".
- "2": Convertible to monopod, achieved by "tripod head + center column + one detached leg".
- "3": Rotatable head base, it can strengthen the flexibility of 3D head and video pan head.

6th digit - Lock Type of Leg Joints
It refers to the locking mechanism of the leg joints, either in "T" or "F".
- "T" stands for twist lock.
- "F" stands for flip lock.

Last 2-3 digits - Model number of tripod head
It's only applicable on tripod KITS. For example, B00 means "B00 ball head is included"; J2 means "J2 ball head is included".
